The Chainsmokers
Memories… Do Not Open
This was by far the most fun I’ve had working on an album. By this time I had been working with my friends Alex and Drew of The Chainsmokers for 2 years, and Memories is the culmination of that. I believe this record has elevated the bar for what a “DJ” can do. This really isnt a DJ project, this is a full fledged pop album and in my view trancends the EDM world. My role was to really just support the guys in whatever it is they needed. Some days I was producing vocals, other days singing them, arranging songs, enhancing production ideas, and mixing. The boys gave me a lot of freedom to experiment and try things, which as a producer or mixer is all you can ever hope for from an artist. I’m really quite proud of these songs. They each represent a moment in time and are near to me because it’s one of the few albums I’ve worked on where I feel especially connected to the songs lyrically. We’re all similar age, come from similar places, and so these songs felt like the last 10 years of my life wrapped up into one record. I couldn’t be more happy with the way it turned out, and more importantly the memories this album has created. For more info please visit: http://www.thechainsmokers.com
